I’m Maggie Adams,
founder of My Design Coach
I have spent years in the trenches of design leadership and higher education.
My experience in mentoring, coaching, and developing talent has helped teams thrive—even in challenging environments.
I bring a unique perspective to consulting, having firsthand experience in overcoming challenges that many creative teams face. My journey from an adult learner to earning both a BFA and MFA in Graphic Design has shaped my approach to leadership and mentoring. Over the years, I’ve held various management positions—including Bakery Manager, Chamber of Commerce Director, Main Street Manager, Senior Graphic Designer and Art Director—yet my true passion lies in teaching and mentoring others.
After a rewarding 16-year career in design, where I earned prestigious awards and built a strong professional foundation, I returned to school to earn a terminal degree and transitioned into education. The decision was driven by my deep fulfillment in guiding others toward success.
I believe that to be an effective educator, expertise alone isn’t enough—it requires passion, adaptability, exceptional communication skills, patience, and a positive attitude to inspire and motivate.
